Abby's Scarf

Discount applies automatically in your cart. **PATTERN DESCRIPTION** Abby’s Scarf is chock full of stripes: textural and color-based. It’s a great way to play with a color palette, or stash bust if you want to use more than the four recommended colors. It is worked flat from tip to tip, with increases and decreases along one side to shape the scarf. There is no purling in this design! This design was inspired by and named for my niece Abby. Unlike my other designs, this pattern is written in a “recipe” style, instead of line-by-line instructions. My hope is that this format, which makes use of tables, appeals to your knitter's intuition. I have also included a *modification guide* so you can make your own unique version. There are three sizes written for the specified gauge and yarn weight. Size 1 will fit a child/teen and Sizes 2 and 3 will fit adults. Additionally, for knitters new to the concept of **working in an established pattern**, I have included a pdf with a visual example. **PATTERN DETAILS** **Sizes** 1 (2, 3) with modification guide (see pdf) 60 (84, 120) in // 180 (210, 300) cm long 9.75 (13.25, 18.3) in // 24.4 (33.1, 45.6) cm center depth **Gauge (measured over 4 in // 10 cm)** 21 sts x 32 rows in garter stitch, measured after blocking **Skills Required** Knitting, slipping sts, m1L increase, ssk decrease, reading tables, reading your knitting **Experience Level** This pattern is best suited for experienced and adventurous beginner knitters. I would not recommend knitting this as your first project, as it relies heavily on the skills of reading your knitting and working instructions in a table format (as opposed to line by line instructions). **MATERIALS** **Yarn Requirements - (includes 10% overage)** Four colors of DK weight yarn: A (B, C, D) Size 1: 84 (94, 94, 85) yds or 78 (86, 86, 78) m *50g of most DK weight yarns should be enough for all four colors.* Size 2: 135 (152, 152, 135) yds or 123 (139, 139, 123) m *100g of most DK weight yarns will be enough for all four colors.* Size 3: 261 (295, 295, 261) yds or 239 (270, 270, 239) m *Depending on the DK weight yarn you choose, you may need more than one skein (100g) for all four colors, or only Yarn A and D.
