Margaret Sweater is ideal for using up your leftover mohair. The sweater features a fair isle pattern on the round yoke. In this type of pattern both pattern color and ground color changes, but you only ever knit with 2 colors at a time. We have included 5 specific suggestions for color combinations in the pattern to make it easier for you. Measurements of the sweater Circumference: (92) 98 (105) 112 (120) 126 (135) 145 (154) cm (36.25) 38.5 (41.25) 44.0 (47.25) 49.5 (53.25) 57.0 (60.75) inches Length*: (50) 51 (53) 54 (56) 57 (59) 60 (62) cm (19.75) 20.0 (20.75) 21.25 (22.0) 22.5 (23.25) 23.75 (24.5) inches Yarn – brown sweater Main color: Sandnes Chunky Ballerina Mohair (77% mohair, 18% wool, 5% polyamide, 50 g = 135 m) color 3880: (200) 250 (250) 300 (300) 300 (350) 350-400 (400) g Yarn – beige sweater Main color consists of 3 strands of silk mohair in different beige tones: Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair 2511 and 3021 + Filcolana Tilia 336. (35) 35 (38) 38 (38) 42 (42) 46 (46) g pr. color. **See colors in the chart key in the last pages of the pattern. Recommended needles Circular needles 5 and 6 mm, 40 and 80 cm [US 8 and US 10, 16 and 32”]. Circular needles 6,5-7 mm, 80 cm [US 10.5, 32” for the pattern]. Gauge 16 sts x approx. 20-22 row in stockinette stitch with the main color = 10 x 10 cm on 6 mm [US 10] needles. 16 sts x approx. 19 rows stockinette stitch in pattern = 10 x 10 cm on 6,5-7 mm [US 10.5] needles. Work the pattern on needles ½-1 size larger than in plain stockinette. It is important for the fit that the pattern border is not tighter than the part knitted in plain stockinette stitch. Size guide Margaret Sweater is designed with approx. 15-30 cm [6-12”] of positive ease, allowing you to choose how loose or fitted you would like it to be. In the photo, the dark brown Margaret Sweater is shown with a positive ease of approx. 26 cm [10.25"]. The beige sweater is shown with a positive ease of approx. 24 cm [9.5"]. The brown/pink sweater is shown with a positive ease of approx. 32 cm [12.5"]. The blue sweater is shown with a positive ease of approx. 20 cm [8"]. . The beige sweater is shown with a positive ease of approx. XX cm [XX"]. Find your personal bust circumference by measuring around your chest (or the largest part of your upper body). Then, compare this measurement to the finished garment measurements listed at the beginning of the pattern. Positive ease is the difference between your body measurement and the measurements of the sweater. For example, if your bust circumference is 94 cm [37”], a size M will give you a positive ease of 18 cm [7”] (112 cm – 94 cm = 18 cm) [44” - 37” = 7”]. A size L will give you a positive ease of 23 cm [10.25”] (117 cm – 94 cm = 23 cm) [47.25” - 37” = 10.25”]. *Length is measured at the center back, excl. the neckline. The sweater is a little short, but you can easily adjust the length to your preference. Construction Margaret Sweater is worked top down. The neckline is folded and knitted together. After the neckline, short rows are made to shape the neck opening. The round yoke is worked in pattern with increases (both shown in the chart). Then raglan increases are worked before the body and sleeves are worked separately.
