Firstly, you cast on and knit 2x2 ribbing then you cast off and use the cast off stitches as a chain to build your crochet onto. I designed the crochet stitches to look like plaid but then, along with the yarn I used, the pattern made me think of waffle cones and the colours of the yarn of gelato! **PATTERN INFORMATION** **Sizes:** Instructions are given for two different circumferences of cowl Yarn: Pale green sample on front cover (Size 1): Birdstreet Yarn ASC70 (70% baby alpaca/20% silk/10% cashmere) 100g/400m (437yd) in the Kelp colourway. Pale mauve sample on last page (Size 2): Birdstreet Yarn Merino Sock (75% SW merino/25% nylon) 100g/425m (465yd) in the Roll Over Pavlova. **Needles/hooks:** 3.5 mm / US 4 (or the size needed to get gauge) 60 cm/24inch needle and 3.5 mm/E crochet hook **Gauge (after blocking):** 30 sts x 40 rnds to 10cm/4” over 2x2 ribbing however gauge is not crucial for this design. **Measurements (after blocking):** 54 (61) cm/ 21 (24) inches (circumference) by 40.5cm/ 16 inches (length) **Notions:** Stitch marker
