The Ella Bonnet

The Ella Boonet is a simple and sweet knit that lends itself especially well to customisation. With it's delicate picot edge, deep split and stockinette body the fit is divine. It offers a choice of two different yarn weights, aran/worsted and chunky/bulky for eight sizes - newborn to adult. It is knitted flat in one piece, before it is joined to knit in the round to form the crown. **Skill Level ~** Advanced beginner. There are written, picture and video tutorials to ensure success every step of the way. **Method ~** Knitted from the bottom up. The Ella Bonnet is made in one piece, flat to form the body and then joined to knit in the round to shape the crown. **Size ~** Newborn - 33 cm/13” head circumference. Finished size - 13 cm/5” tall by 13 cm/5” deep 0 - 3 months - 36 cm/14” head circumference. Finished size - 14 cm/5.5” tall by 14 cm/5.5” deep 3 - 6 months - 38 cm/15” head circumference. Finished size - 15 cm/6” tall by 15 cm/6” deep 6 - 12 months - 41 cm/16” head circumference. Finished size - 16.5 cm/6.5” tall by 16.5 cm/6.5” deep 1 - 3 years - 46 cm/18” head circumference. Finished size - 19 cm/7.5” tall by 19 cm/7.5” deep 3 - 10 years - 51 cm/20” head circumference. Finished size - 20 cm/8” tall by 20 cm/8” deep Adult - 56 cm/22” head circumference. Finished size - 24 cm/9.5” tall by 24 cm/9.5” deep Large adult - 61 cm/24” head circumference. Finished size - 27 cm/10.5” tall by 27 cm/10.5” deep **Yarn ~** Aran/Worsted Chunky Newborn - 46 m/50 yds 36 m/39 yds 0 - 3 months - 52 m/57 yds 39 m/43 yds 3 - 6 months - 59 m/65 yds 43 m/47 yds 6 - 12 months - 68 m/74 yds 48 m/52 yds 1 - 3 years - 73 m/80 yds 56 m/61 yds 3 - 10 years - 88 m/96 yds 64 m/70 yds Adult - 95 m/104 yds 81 m/88 yds Large adult - 101 m/110 yds 91 m/100 yds **Suggested Yarn ~** Aran/Worsted ~ Malabrigo Worsted, Malabrigo Washted. Malabrigo Rios, Juniper Moon Farm Moonstone Chunky/Bulky - Malabrigo Chunky, Manos del Uruguay Cardo **You can substitute any yarn providing you meet the gauge and achieve a suitable fabric** **Needles and Notions ~** 40cm/16” circular needles and DPNs in sizes given for each yarn weight; Aran/Worsted: 5 mm/US 8 Chunky/Bulky: 6 mm/US 9 Stitch marker Darning needle Scissors Pom–pom and tag as desired **Gauge ~** Gauge is given in stockinette and knitted flat using the recommended needle size for each yarn weight. Measurements should be taken unstretched and unblocked. St gauge is more important than row gauge for this pattern. Knitted over 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. Aran/Worsted ~ 18 sts and 30 rows. WPI 11 Cunky ~ 14 sts and 22 rows. WPI - 8 **Techniques ~** Picot cast on Knit cast on and bind off Knit Purl Slip stitch Joining to knit in the round Use of magic loop or DPNs Decreasing Closing top Weaving in ends The pattern has been extensively tested and/or tech edited.
