This seamless top down raglan cardigan lets you play with virtually **any yarn combination** while turning scraps, minis, and leftovers into a cohesive sweater. For our samples, we used Charlotte DK by Sugarplum Circus for the main color and paired it with DK, worsted, and fingering weight yarn held double for the contrast colors. The 1x1 colorwork blends everything together so even very different yarns look intentional. Say goodbye to weaving in ends. The finishing icord method built into the pattern allow you to secure yarn changes as you knit, and the included video tutorials walk you through exactly how it works. Curious about 1x1 colorwork? It’s simple. Alternate stitches between two colors: knit one stitch with the main color, then the next stitch with the contrast color, repeating all the way around. Change one or both colors at the beginning of a round and the fabric naturally blends. --- ### **Design Details** This V neck raglan cardigan is worked from the top down so you can try it on as you go and customize length and fit. The only purl stitches occur in the ribbing for the hem, cuffs, and collar. The sweater uses basic 1x1 stranded colorwork throughout, alternating the main color and contrast color every stitch to create a softly blended fabric. After each row, stitches are slid back to the beginning so the colorwork is always worked from the right side. After separating the sleeves and body, the body continues flat and finishes with 2x2 ribbing. Sleeves are worked in the round. Because colors change frequently, yarn tails are secured as you knit so finishing is minimal. The button band or shawl collar is worked last. --- ### **Yarn Notes** This design was created specifically to use **ALL your yarn**. Most knitters use a **DK weight yarn for the main color** and a **contrast color made from fingering weight yarn held double**, changing the contrast color frequently to blend scraps. You can also: - use all DK - hold fingering weight double for either color - mix in sport yarn - occasionally use worsted yarn As long as you swatch and meet gauge, the combinations are extremely flexible.
