Inner Harbour Shawl

The Inner Harbour Shawl is knitted on the bias with a single skein or ball of a fingering weight yarn. The knitting starts with just a few stitches and grows into an asymmetrical and slightly curved triangular shape using the increases along the edge of the knitted fabric. The shawl is finished with a lace border in a popular Old Shale stitch pattern. The garter stitch pattern and rows of eyelet stitches are alternated with sections of triangles, which are worked using a short-row knitting technique, and sections of a wavy lace stitch pattern. The stitch patterns are charted and written out. The sections involving the short-row knitting technique are written out row by row. The Inner Harbour Shawl was designed specifically with gradient yarn in mind, to create effortless colour transitions when working with short rows and wavy lace patterns.
