Acrylic, superwash wool, cotton, and other washable fibers are all excellent choices. Gauge: 18 stitches = 4 inches in pattern Don't worry if your gauge isn't exact. Baby blankets are very forgiving, and a slightly different gauge will simply change the finished size a bit. Choose the needle size that gives you a fabric you love.
