Sequence Cowl #4

**Special thanks to [Alainn Yarns](/yarns/brands/alainn-yarns) for providing their Wanderer DK yarn for the sample.** This design is the fourth of a series—twelve cowls in sequence knitting for 2024. This month, we’re working a simple spiral in a {k6, p2} sequence, worked over a multiple of 8 stitches minus 1. In January, we added a stitch beyond the 6-stitch multiple of our {k3, p3} sequence (i.e., we cast on a multiple of 6 stitches plus 1), and created a spiral that leaned up to the right. By subtracting a stitch from our multiple this month, we create a spiral that leans up to the left. You can go straight into the sequence knitting after casting on your stitches, but I’ve provided instructions for the optional rolled hem that you see in the sample. Next month, we’ll do something more interesting with the spiral, and in June we’ll work a flat rectangle and seam it in an interesting way to shape the cowl. Traditional instructions and a chart are included in the pattern, following the sequence knitting instructions. The sample measures 56 cm in circumference x 21.5 cm tall (22” x 8.5”); instructions are provided in the pattern to help you re-size the project to suit your needs. This is an easy project. The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete the cowl are: * cast on and bind off; * knit and purl; * working in the round. **Errata** The traditional instructions for the cowl should read "**Repeat these 8 rounds** until cowl measures 21 cm (8.25”)," not 6 rounds.
