First, the back yoke is worked back and forth until the underarm. Then, stitches are picked up from the slanted edges of the back yoke to work the back and front shoulders. The shoulders are joined by casting on stitches for the front neck, and the front yoke is worked to the underarm, where the front and back are joined to work the body in the round. Directions for both a sleeveless or a sleeved version are given. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up around the armhole. The sleeve caps or armhole ribbing are shaped using German short rows.
