The Lanolines sweater is a crew neck striped raglan sweater with delicate ribbing and rolled edges on the collar, cuffs and hem. This design is a collaboration with Witchfire Fibers using her Natural Farm Yarn milled from wool from her own flock of sheep! The name is a nod to the natural sheep wool (lanolin is a naturally produced oil on wool) but modified to lanoLINES to reference the stripes! The sweater is worked at a loose gauge for a nice transitional piece. It is worked top down with compound raglan shaping (increases concentrated at the beginning and end of the raglan section), as well as some additional increases worked in the body if desired to increase to the full bust measurement. It is a size inclusive design, written in 10 sizes, every 4 inches / 10 cm from 30-66 inches / 75-165 cm finished upper bust, with an easily customizable full bust. It is intended to fit with 2-6 inches / 5-15 cm of positive ease and sit at a cropped length (length can be altered to your preferences).

*Note: The sizes reflect the FINISHED upper bust measurements in inches / cm of the sweater, and listed below you can see the recommended actual bust range for each size. The sweater is designed for 2-6 inches / 5-15 cm of positive ease. To determine the size you wish to knit, measure your upper bust and add 2-6 inches / 5-15 cm to find the closest size. My sample is knit with about 2 inches / 5 cm of positive ease (Size 3 on a 36 inch / 90 cm bust and 30 inch / 75 cm waist).*
The full bust and waist measurements of this sweater are quite customizable, so the upper bust is the best number to choose size based off of. Once you split for the sleeves/body, you can work increases or decreases to fit your full bust, as well as bust darts and waist decreases as needed.
**Needles recommended:**
- 5.5 mm / US 9 / UK 5 (or size needed to obtain gauge) - main body
- 4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 (or two sizes down from the main needle) - ribbing/rolled edge
- Cord length to match your bust measurement as well as 9-16 inch / 22.5-40 cm cord for the sleeves (or DPNs or 32-40 inch / 80-100 cm cord for the magic loop method).
**Gauge:**
Using 5.5 mm / US 9 / UK 5 (body) needles and working in stockinette in the round. The neck shaping is worked flat so you may also wish to swatch flat to ensure your gauge is the same.
4 x 4 inch / 10 x 10 cm = 18 sts x 26 rows/rounds
**Yarn recommended:**
The yarn used for this sample is classified as a DK, however it does bloom quite a bit as it is a natural non-superwash yarn. The sweater is intended to be worked with DK (3) weight at a loose gauge, however you should be able to use a worsted weight yarn and achieve the same gauge as well, it would just be a denser fabric.
Sample is knit using Witchfire Fibers Natural Farm Yarn (DK weight, 270 yds/100g) in the naturally coloured grey (from Isla and Andromeda) and the silver cream (from Poppy and Kingsley). The cream is my C1 and the grey is my C2.
Knitpicks Swish DK is a great budget friendly alternative yarn.
**Yardage Recommended:**
The yardage for this sweater will be roughly equal for your two colours, but depending on the size and how the stripes layout works out on the body/sleeves, you may need a more of one colour. The estimates provided are based on the recommended lengths for body and sleeves, and I have listed which colour the body/sleeves end on if you follow the pattern as written. The stripes are 4 rows/rounds long, just over 0.5 inches / 1.25 cm thick, so if you want to add length in full stripe increments you will need to keep that in mind. The short ribbed hem/cuffs with a rolled edge are worked in the same colour as the final stripe.

*Note: If you choose to knit your sweater with no stripes, add C1 and C2 yardages together for your total yardage needed. If you wish to use more than 2 colours for your stripes, you can take the total yardage and divide it by the number of colours you are using (I would make sure to have a bit extra yardage for each colour in this case, as you may use a bit more/less of some colours depending on placement and overall lengths.*
