Have you ever wondered if it's possible to crochet a weighted blanket? Weighted blankets are known for improving sleep, calming anxiety, and helping with sensory processing disorders. Lying under one feels like an all-over hug.
Normally, weighted blankets have quilted pockets filled with plastic pellets -- not an option with crochet, since the pellets would escape through the holes. So I decided to find a way to attach beads to the inside of a crochet blanket.
The trick is to make a 3-layer blanket with plastic beads embedded in the middle layer so you don't feel them. The result is a soft, thick blanket with uniform weight distribution, perfect for added calmness.
The step-by-step pattern includes instructions for two sizes - adult/throw and kid size - or you can start with a different number of stitches to make your own size. **Important: Weighted blankets are not recommended for children under 4 years old.**
