Linden Button Up

When I had an emergency surgery, I decided to knit myself a [Linden Vest][3] for fun during recovery. As I was picking out yarns, I started to think, hmmm, wouldn't this be fun as a button-up version, as well? And, well, here we are! While I was at it, I opted to lengthen this version a smidge and lower the v-neckline which actually caused it to become more a sweetheart neck. Unintentional, but definitely loving it! This vest is worked from the bottom up, in pieces. It is then seamed for added stability (especially with the alpaca fiber content), and the armholes and buttonband are picked up and worked after. There are options for three different buttonholes (with tutorials linked in pattern), and a couple helpful blog posts linked, as well. **Sizes** 1 (2, 3, 4, 5)**(6, 7, 8, 9)** **Final dimensions** Chest Circumference: 30.25 (33.5, 38.25, 41.5, 46.25)**(49.5, 54.25, 57.5, 62.25)**”/[77 (85, 97, 105.5, 117.5)**(125.5, 138, 146, 158)**cm] Mel (blonde) has a chest circumference of 44”/[112cm] and is wearing a Size 5 (yellow and grey model) with +2.25”/[5.5cm] of ease. Rainie (curly hair) has a chest circumference of 36"/[91.5cm] and is wearing a Size 3 with +2.25"/[5.5cm] of ease. Noriko (me, black and pick hair) has a chest circumference of 41"/[104cm] and is wearing a Size 4 with +0.5"[+1.5cm] of ease. Maddie (pink hair+glasses) has a 39"/[99cm] chese circumference and is wearing a Size 4 with +2.5"/[+6.5cm] of ease. The recommended ease for this vest is –2” to +2”/[-5 to +5cm] of ease. Testers worked theirs between -4" and +3"/[-10 to +7.5cm] of ease. Some testers chose to work a size that gave them zero to +1” of ease at the low chest (underbust) but higher negative ease than recommended at the full chest. **Materials** *Yarn* Color A: Republica Unicornia BFL DK (100% SW British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 246yds/[225m]/100g) in colorway When the Ship Comes In (the grey and yellow sample) 275 (320, 375, 405, 480)**(530, 595, 650, 705)**yds/[250 (295, 345, 370, 440)**(485, 545, 595, 645)**m] of a smooth DK weight yarn Color B: Republica Unicornia Suri Silk Floof (74% Baby Suri Alpaca, 26% Mulberry Silk, 328yds/[300m]/50g) in colorway The Lovecats (the grey and yellow sample) 140 (165, 195, 210, 245)**(250, 285, 305, 335)**yds/[130 (150, 180, 190, 225)**(250, 285, 305, 335)**m] of a fuzzy/textured yarn that can be worked at a DK gauge Note: The brown and pink version uses Republica Unicornia BFL DK in Forest Floor and Suri Silk Floof in A Rose for Emily. The red and grey version was using discontinued stash yarns (very sorry, still a smooth DK weight plus a fuzzy yarn knit at a DK gauge). *Needles* US 4 [3.5 mm] - 40”/[100cm] circular for hem of body/buttonband (length is to more comfortably accommodate the number of sts along the buttonband) and 16”/[40cm] circular for armhole ribbing US 6 [4 mm] - 32”/[80cm] circular Or size to obtain gauge. *Notions* removable stitch markers, scrap yarn to place sts on hold, tapestry needle, 4 (4, 5, 5, 5)**(5, 5, 6, 6)** buttons between 3/8”-3/4”/[10-19mm] in diameter (the yellow sample has 3/8”/[10mm] buttons, the red sample has 5/8”/[15mm] buttons, and the brown/peach sample has 3/4”/[19mm] buttons) **Gauge** 20 sts x 38 rows = 4” x 4” [10 cm x 10 cm] in Stripe Pattern on larger needles, blocked. **About the Low Vision version: The text is a sans serif font in 24pt. The text is black ink on a white background. No italics were used in this version. While a chart is included, the chart has also been written out in full.
