Riley

**Construction** The Riley shawl is knitted starting from the superior central aspect of it, with short rows that create a triangular pattern of lines of two colours which expands progressively, giving an impressive optical effect. The shawl is finished around with a brioche stitch; this creates a nice contrast with the general pattern of the shawl. **Inspiration** The shawl was designed based on the work of Bridget Riley, an English artist who, in the 60s, initiated and researched the field of the language of movement in optical art. Her work is complex, with abstract designs that aim at producing optical effects able to create volume and undefined geometrical shapes, typical of the artistic style known as Op Art. **Construcción** El chal Riley está tejido desde el centro superior con vueltas cortas, creando un entramado triangular de líneas en dos colores, que van creciendo diversamente formando un precioso efecto óptico, rematando con una sección a punto brioche que rompe con líneas perpendiculares y que contrastan con el dibujo principal del chal. **Inspiración** Este diseño, tiene su origen en la obra de una mujer, una artista inglesa que durante los años 60 y en adelante trabajó el lenguaje del movimiento del arte óptico, estoy hablando de Bridget Riley. Sus obras, son complejas estructuras abstractas diseñadas para producir efectos ópticos muy llamativos que pudieran crear volumen y abstracción geométrica, propios de este estilo artístico, el Op Art.
