**SPOT COWL** is a cylinder shaped neck warmer in a lovely stranded pattern. The stranded pattern is worked in the round from the right side, and that makes this a good beginner project if you don’t have much experience with knitting with more than one color at a time. The top of the cowl is cast on using the Italian cast on technique, then the cowl is worked in the round, first in twisted rib and then in the stranded pattern which is worked in stockinette stitch. Short rows are worked to create a really good fit around the shoulders and neck, then the work is split into a front and a back section, which are finished separately in twisted rib and with an Italian bind off. If you would like a slightly less advanced project, the Italian cast-on can be replaced by a regular long-tail cast-on.
