Lavender Socks

Toe-up socks are my favorite-- They get all of the fussy toe shaping out of the way at the beginning; they let you use up every last bit of your ball of yarn; and best of all, you can try them on as you go! I designed these to use as little yarn as possible, so you can make them from even the smallest skeins of sock yarn. But if yarn is plentiful and longer socks preferred, feel free to knit skyward to your heart's content! Knit on 61 stitches, the slightly smaller-than-standard circumference allows the easily-memorized lace pattern to stretch and "bloom" into rows, reminiscent of lavender fields in the summertime-- the perfect season to wear these lacy anklets. **MATERIALS:** **Yarn**: 190 yards of fingering weight yarn. Any wool or mostly-wool sock yarn with good stitch definition would work well-- solid or gently variegated yarns are recommended, as they will show off the lace pattern well. - Dark purple sample was knit in kettle-dyed Wool2Dye4 Platinum Sock. - Light purple sample was knit in Auracania Huasco. **Recommended Needle Size:** Size 1-2 needles for working in the round-- (DPNs, 2 short circulars, or 1 long circular). **Notions:** 2 stitch markers, to indicate beginning of sole sts and beginning of top sts; tapestry needle for weaving in ends. **Gauge:** 17 sts/ 25 rows = 2" in stockinette stitch.
