Carousel CAL

Created by experienced designer Sue Pinner, the Carousel Blanket is a gorgeous crochet pattern which has been chosen by Stylecraft for their Autumn 2016 CAL (Crochet Along). Inspired by the sights and sounds of traditional fairgrounds and circuses, Sue has incorporated all the fun of the fair into her beautiful design, and it’s easy to imagine the merry-go-round, helter skelter and coconut shies just waiting to be enjoyed. The CAL started on 13th September, and there were 6 installments over 3 months, with the final issue on 15th November. Ongoing instructions for the CAL are available from the Stylecraft website. The Carousel Blanket Crochet Along is an ideal opportunity for crocheters who have mastered the basic stitches and would like to improve their skills. It includes a selection of geometric shapes including pentagons, hexagons, octagons and trapezoids. The shapes are crocheted individually from the centre outwards, and then joined together. Yarn:- 30 x 50g balls of Stylecraft Batik DK in the following shades: 3 x Cherry 2 x Cream, Plum, Raspberry, Coral, Biscuit, Old Gold, Pistachio, Olive, Sage, Storm, Teal, and Indigo 1 x Graphite, Heather, and Violet. Or 17 x 100g balls of Stylecraft Special DK in the following shades: 2 x Lipstick 1 x Parma Violet, Cream, Clematis, Magenta, Fuchsia Purple, Spice, Citron, Mustard, Pistachio, Grass Green, Aspen, Duck Egg, Turquoise, Aster and Lavender When complete, your blanket will measure approximately 152cm (60”) in diameter, and you will need a 4mm crochet hook, locking stitch markers, a tapestry needle, scissors and a tape measure.
