**Pattern description from *Alterknits*:** "Two fabulous papery Japanese yarns (one pure linen, the other a blend of Linen and nylon) inspired these translucent, quick-to-knit lanterns, which I've used to cover ordinary Christmas lights. They create a festive atmosphere wherever you place them." **Finished Measurements:** Using 1 strand of Shosenshi Paper: 1.5" square; Using 1 strand each Shosenshi Paper and Paper Moire: 1.75" wide x 1.5" tall **Yarn:** * Habu Textiles Shosenshi Paper (100% linen; 280 yards/3 ounces): 1 skein. Shown in #115 gray/beige. * Habu Textiles Paper Moire (50% linen, 50% nylon; 311 yards/0.5 ounce): 1 ball Shown in #05 mocha. * Note: This amount of yarn will make 40-50 lanterns. **Needles:** One set of 5 double-pointed needles (dpn) size US 8 (5mm). Change needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. **Materials:** 8-foot strand or desired length decorative indoor Christmas lights **Notions:** Yarn needle, stitch markers. **Additional Gauge:** 18 sts and 24 rows = 4" in St st using Shosenshi Paper and Paper Moire together. **Note from *Alterknits*:** "Using dpn helps to define the 'edges' of each square lantern; pinching the sides of the lantern, where you have moved from one dpn to the next, further defines the edges."
