The first is the lace body, which begins at the bottom tip with 7 stitches and is increased as it is worked towards the top of edge. After completion of this central triangle, stitches are picked up along the diagonal side edges to work a lace edging. Remember as you work that the shawl will significantly grow after blocking due to the nature of lace pattern.
