Cow Parsley Afghan Square

Lacy, frothy and feminine, this square was adapted from [Queen Anne's Lace Scarf][1] by Joyce Lewis, which was in turn inspired from a very old traditional pattern. In this part of the world "Cow Parsley", is the common name for the same white umbelliferous plant which lines our lanes and paths in early summer. I have Joyce's full permission to adapt her pattern, in fact she very kindly tested it and advised me. The petals are worked one at a time, continuously, around a central medallion, each slightly overlapping the last. This involves much turning of the work, but is not difficult, although it requires concentration. Sizes: (approximate) Worsted weight yarn and a 5mm (H) hook, produces a 12" square A heavy DK on a 4mm (G) hook, produces a 9.75".square. . A lighter DK and a 3.5mm (E) hook produces a 9.25" square The pattern will be the August 2015 main block in the [2015 Crochet Block-a-Month CAL][2] , and there will be a thread there featuring round by round photos and advice, should you need it.
