Summer Mosaic Afghan

NEW July 2022 - Pattern has been updated with revised instructions for last Octagon popcorn round and a pretty border. Will leave both versions in the file for now. Yarn Pack available with pattern at [Mary Maxim][1]! This design was inspired by the sun shining on colorful stepping stone mosaic tiles in my yard. I had long been thinking of turning a round mandala into an octagon in order to join in a blanket, and in this design I tried to imagine each colored piece as a differently shaped mosaic tile. Pattern has been successfully completed by hundreds of crocheters. Original design calls for 6 octagons in aran weight, but many lovely versions have been made with more motifs in a thinner yarn. Suitable for the intermediate crocheter or adventurous beginner. Post stitches, popcorn stitches, and your basic crochet stitches combine into a textural design resembling mosaic tile.
