Construction Trucks Sweater

Vroom vroom! I designed this sweater with my own little boy in mind. He is a devoted fan of all construction vehicles, and he loved the ones I chose for this sweater! I bet your favorite little one will love them as well. This cute pullover features a dump truck, an excavator, and a bulldozer worked in stranded knitting technique around the front and back. The truck pattern is edged in a checker flag border, which is repeated above the cuff of the sleeves. The sweater is worked in the round to the armholes, then worked back and forth to the shoulder seams. The sleeves are worked in the round until the cap shaping. This pattern includes three sizes: 18-24 months (25" chest), 2-4 years (28" chest), and 4-6 years (30" chest). The gauge is 22 st and 30 rows over 4" in stockinette stitch, and 23 st and 28 rows over 4" in pattern. I knit the sweater tightly, using a worsted weight yarn, but loosened up over the truck pattern. You may want to use a larger needle over the truck pattern to get the proper gauge. For this sweater, I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease worsted weight yarn (80% acrylic, 20% wool, 197 yds per ball). You will need 3 (3, 4) balls of Blue Heather #107, 1 ball of Black #153, and 1 ball of Ranch Red #102, or equivalent amounts in a worsted weight yarn. You will also need a 24" circular needle, a 16" circular needle, and double pointed needles, all in size US 6 or whatever size necessary to get the gauge. Straight needles will not work for this pattern.
