Frieze Shawl

This cozy shawl features a quick and fun to knit **stitch pattern** that may look complicated but is easy to work since it is created by using the **mosaic technique**: slipped-stitches, only one colour at a time & one little trick… It is an elongated, **asymmetrical triangular shawl** with a curved top edge. You’ll start knitting with just a few stitches at one tip, then work your way across to the opposite edge creating the triangular shape by increasing/decreasing at the edges. It is finished with an i-cord bind-off. You’ll need **two yarns in colours with good contrast**. To make the stitch pattern look even more complex use a long-striping or handspun yarn with a contrasting solid. Any yarn from fingering to aran weight will work (they can even be slightly different in weight). Allow approx. 200 yards of each colour. The **finished size** is approx. 160cm/63” along the top edge and 38cm/15” deep. It is easily adjustable to the amount of yarn you have if you want to make it longer and deeper. The design was inspired by Susan Ashcroft’s [Brain Frieze][2] cowl and she encouraged me to write this up. The pattern contains **written as well as charted instructions**. Es wird mit nur einigen wenigen Maschen an der rechten Seite begonnen und dann zur gegenüberliegenden Seite weitergestrickt, wobei die Dreiecksform durch Zu- und Abnahmen an den Rändern entsteht. Den Abschluß bildet eine zweifarbige Kordel an der Abkettkante. Benötigt werden **zwei Garne mit gutem Kontrast**. Um das Muster noch komplexer wirken zu lassen, kann auch ein handgesponnenes, Farbverlaufs- oder streifenbildendes Garn mit einem kontrastierenden einfarbigen Garn verwendet werden. Es sollten von jeder Farbe ca. 180m/200yd LL zur Verfügung stehen. Die fertige **Größe des Tuches** ist ca. 160cm x 38cm; kann je nach verwendeter Garnstärke jedoch etwas variieren. Es kann einfach an die vorhandene Garnmenge angepasst werden, wenn ein größeres Tuch gewünscht wird. Die Anleitung enthält sowohl eine **Strickschrift** als auch eine **ausgeschriebene Version** für jede Reihe.
