**There was a [KAL][1]; it's over now, but come on over and have a look or post your pics.** There is also a separate rectangle version available [here.][2] --------------------------- **Making the yarn go further ....** I have lots of skeins of handspun all with just over 200m and wanted to see if I could get a scarf - rather than a cowl - with that yardage. I'm happy to report that it worked. ☺ Loose gauge makes the yarn go further, while the edge stitches and the ridges keep it from being shapeless or too sloppy. Quote from one knitter: *... excellent pattern for handspun. The alternating stockinette with reverse stockinette really shows off color changes. The pattern is easy to read and memorize.* Barbara Walker lists the stitch as Quaker Ridging - hence the name. I used around 210-230m of Worsted on 6mm needles and the scarves are all around 150cm/ 5' long, which isn't huge, but certainly wearable as a scarf. If you prefer you can use a different type of yarn or use more yarn to make a larger version - no adjustment needed, just knit more.... It's reversible and with some yarns the "wrong side" can actually be the best one. ☺ Many thanks to the testers: jillyarnie heleenk lynn1855 lindse miriamspooner triflydesign [1]: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/stitchnerds/2658235/476-500#499 [2]: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/quaker-yarn-stretcher-rectangle
