Same Thing Only Different

Can be made in any yarn, in any gauge. One of my mother's favorite sayings was "Same thing only different", when referring to two things that were pretty much the same, but with a difference - such as two dresses made from the same pattern, but with a different fabric. It's a perfect name for this wrap, because it's just a simple shape. You can make it with different yarn, different gauge, or different stitch patterns, and it can be made seamed or seamless. You can wear it with the rectangular edge in back for a cowl neckline in the front, or go for a more asymmetrical look by centering the rectangular edge down one arm. Pattern includes specific instructions for a seamed version in Shibui Knits Linen, and a seamless version in Douceur et Soie (or Kidsilk Haze), as well as general guidelines and tips for creating your own version in any yarn or gauge. Yardage will vary depending on your choice of yarn, needle size, and gauge. Gauge and yardage for the samples in the pattern: For the "Shibui Linen" version: Gauge: 17.5 st = 4" on US 9 in stockinette 2 skeins - 492 yards (uses the full two skeins) For "Douceur et Soie" or "Kidsilk Haze": Gauge: 16 st = 4" on US 8 in stockinette 2 skeins - (uses less than 2 skeins, approximately 400 yards needed) Note: I used the Estonian Bind-off.
