**Peerie Flooers** This familiar hat remains one of my all-time favourites. Knitters seem to love its cheerful motifs just as much as I do, and I was very happy when I was invited to provide some knitwear samples for the BBC TV crime series, Shetland , and Peerie Flooers appeared on screen sported by a somewhat dubious archaeologist. I've knitted Peerie Flooers several times, in several different yarns, and it is great to be able to finally knit it in my own yarn, Milarrochy Tweed. **Yarn** Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed (70% wool; 30% mohair; 100m / 109yds per 25g ball). 1 ball of each of the following shades: A Tarbet B Hirst C Stockiemuir D Cowslip E Smirr F Garth G Cranachan **Needles and Notions** 40cm / 16in below gauge-size circular needle. 40cm / 16in gauge-size circular needle. Gauge-size needle(s) of your preferred type for working small circumferences. Stitch marker. Tapestry needle. **Gauge** 28 sts and 34 rounds to 10cm / 4in over colourwork on gauge-size needle. Gauge was achieved on 3.25mm / US 3 needle. **Sizing** Instructions for two sizes of hat are given. The small size (pictured), is a close-fitting, shallow beanie, whereas the medium size is deeper, wider, and slightly more slouchy. To fit head circumference: 51-56 (56-61)cm / 20-22 (22-24)in Hat circumference (unstretched)52 (61)cm / 20½ (24)in Height from brim to crown: 23 (25.5)cm / 9 (10)in **Pattern notes** This hat is worked from the bottom up, beginning with a few rounds of corrugated rib. The body and crown of the hat are knitted following a colourwork chart. Charts are read from right to left throughout.
