Wasp Nest Pattern by Sophia Orquiz Level: Easy Inspiration for Pattern: Though it has not been scientifically proven to work, many swear by decoy wasp nests to deter wasps from building nests in the area, tricking them into thinking that another colony has already established its territory. Considering that my balcony and garage are magnets for wasps to build their nests during the warmer seasons, I decided to put that theory to the test! For this pattern you will need to know how to increase and decrease stitches. You will also need to know how to crochet using the back loops only. The pattern consists of the single crochet stitch, half double crochet stitch, double crochet stitch, triple crochet stitch, chains, and the slip stitch. Note: This pattern will be worked in the round. Supplies Needed: • H/8, 5.00 MM Crochet Hook • Medium Worsted Weight (4) Yarn: (I used acrylic): 1 skein of light brown, cream, beige or any shade of color that resembles a wasp nest. • Tapestry Needle • Stitch Markers • Scissors • Polyfil Stuffing (or scrap yarn if you do not have poly-fil on hand). • Stuffing Tool *When selecting your materials, you may want to consider whether they can be washed or not.
