Liliales shawl

Like a bouquet of flowers in wearable form! This shawl is a joy to knit and a beautiful statement to wear. This shawl uses syncopated two colour brioche to depict flowers and leaves. The narrow crescent shape sits neatly around your shoulders. It is worked from one corner to the other, making it easy to adjust the length. The pattern may even be worked in yarn of a different weight to obtain a wider or narrower finished item. The name Liliales comes from an order of flowering plants which includes both lilies and tulips. The pattern has both written instructions and charts. **Materials:** • Two colours of fingering weight yarn, approximately 300m (328yds) of each for the main and contrast colours (MC and CC). • 3.5mm/US 4 circular needle with an 80cm/32” or longer cable. • Tapestry needle to weave in ends. **Size of finished shawl:** Length 185cm/74", depth 20cm/8", relaxed after blocking. **Gauge:** Obtaining gauge is not essential, as long as you are happy with the fabric you are getting. Different gauge will affect the size of the finished object and the amount of yarn used. The sample shawl had a gauge of 15 stitches and 22 rows of brioche rib in a 10cm x 10cm (4” x 4”) square, after blocking.
