Beside The Seaside

**Overlay mosaic crochet** “Beside the Seaside” was originally designed as an 8-part CAL inspired by childhood holidays in various Norfolk seaside resorts … think rockpools, sandcastles, ice creams, beach huts and flying kites… It is worked using the overlay mosaic crochet technique, and finished off with a simple envelope border to hide the loose ends. If you are unfamiliar with mosaic crochet or the envelope border, don’t worry, they are much easier to do than they look. Full written instructions are provided, alongside clearly marked, easy to read charts and lots of helpful photos, making this pattern suitable even for total beginners to mosaic crochet. Supporting videos for selected charts (Chart 1, the border, and whenever a new stitch is used) are provided on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/RosinaCrochets The pattern is written for a single size (approximately 91 x 135cm), and colour packs are available from Stylecraft stockists for this size. The pattern also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size. The 48-stitch repeat also makes Beside The Seaside easy to combine with many of my other mosaic crochet designs, including On The Seashore and Seahorse Soulmates Mosaic. To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in Flora’s Fauna, HoHoHo and On The Seashore).
