The Ada Top

The top is worked bottom up, first in the round and then back and forth to create the low back. At the under arms, the work is split to create the chest piece and the back straps separately. In the end, the front and back straps are grafted together at the top of the shoulders. The Ada Top was named after Ada Lovelace, an English mathematician, and writer, who was the first person to realise that the machine had applications beyond pure calculation. Ada was also responsible for the publication of the first algorithm intended to be carried out by a machine. For these achievements, she is considered by many the first computer programmer. The Ada Top is designed to have no ease to 2cm of negative ease, which means that you should choose a size that has a circumference identical to your waist measurement or slightly (2cm) smaller than it. The most important measurement is the waist circumference since the open back will allow for the top to accommodate your chest size. If you are between sizes, then I would recommend using your bust measurement to decide whether to size up or down.
