Sleeves and collar are picked up and worked in the round. **Sizing** This garment has 7.5 - 15cm / 3-6” positive ease worked into the grading. This means if you go up or down a size to adjust the ease, your yoke/sleeves may end up too big or small. If choosing a different size than recommended for the age of the child, you may want to follow the lengths of the recommended size. Always measure your child as ages are only a recommendation. Penelope’s sample is size 5-6 with the body length of size 3-4. Penelope has a chest circ of 58.5cm / 23” and is 3.5 years old so the sample has 15cm / 6” positive ease, with an appropriate length for her age. When in doubt its always best to size up. Children vary greatly in height so try your garment on regularly, adding length where appropriate as described in the pattern. **Gauge & Yarn** It is always a good idea to gauge swatch to make sure your garment fits, and to make sure you’re happy with the fabric you’re creating. Adjust your needle size accordingly if needed. When using superwash yarn your garment is always more likely to grow, therefor it’s very important to wash and block your gauge swatch for a more accurate gauge reading. Take note of your gauge before and after swatching, paying close attention to the row gauge as this will be useful for predicting final lengths. This garment is graded using row gauge so try and get as close as you can. Samples use a lighter MC and darker CC. Yarn amounts are approximate and include 10% contingency. Children vary greatly in height, especially as they get older so though there is contingency in the supplied yarn amounts, you may wish to purchase extra yarn if your child is especially tall for their age. Guidence on adding sleeve and body length is given in the pattern. **Difficulty** Confident Beginner **Techniques** Working flat Working in the round Increasing/decreasing Picking up stitches Jogless stripes Carrying yarn For more information, see: https://www.penroseknits.com
