Vitamin C socks

Mandarin oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C and are a delicious, juicy and healthy snack. A much-welcomed winter fruit, they are often given as a gift at Christmas and seen as a symbol of wealth and prosperity during Lunar New Year celebrations. Here in Switzerland, Samichlaus (or Santa Claus) lives in the forest and brings the well-behaved children bags filled with mandarins, nuts and gingerbread on December 6. I thought it would be fun to create some socks dedicated to this zesty, bright and possibly lucky fruit! **Construction Notes** Knit from the top down with a twisted ribbed cuff, this sock includes two different mandarin-inspired colorwork patterns, which are worked throughout the leg and foot. These socks are knit with a short row heel. **Sizing** 1 (2, 3) To fit (foot circumference): 8½ (9½, 10½) inches / 20.5–23 (23.5–25, 26–27.5) cm **Yarn** Fingering weight, GigglingGecko Socklandia Soxs (80% superwash merino, 20% nylon), 398 yds (365 m) per 100-g skein. For colorwork: US 1.5 (2.5 mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred). **Gauge** 34 sts x 38 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for colorwork. 36 sts x 42 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for ribbing.
