PLEASE NOTE! This sock pattern is part of Sari's Mystery Knit-along for October 2026. You can find more information about the knit-along on Sari Nordlund's Ravelry group "Sari's Mystery Sock KAL 2026". The socks are worked toe-up in fingering weight yarn, beginning with Judy's Magic Cast-On, and are easiest to knit using the magic loop method. The diamond cable pattern is worked first over the instep, then continues over the whole leg after the heel is finished. The heel is shaped with gussets and a French-heel-inspired construction, with a reinforced heel flap for extra durability in everyday wear. Both written and charted instructions are provided for the cable pattern. The foot and cuff length are both adjustable. For the cable pattern to show at its best, choose a solid or slightly variegated colorway. Size 1 (2, 3, 4) Circumference of the foot: 19.5 (20.5, 22, 23) cm / 7.75 (8, 8.75, 9) inches, to be worn with slight negative ease. Length of the cuff and the foot are adjustable. Yarn 250 (280, 320, 370) m / 280 (310, 350, 400) yards of fingering weight sock yarn Sample (size 2): 1 skein of Frankie Grey Fibres (80% merino, 20% nylon; 365 m / 400 yards per 100g), shown in the colorway ttpd. Needles 2.5 mm / US 1.5 DPNs or circular needles with a cable suitable for small circumference knitting Gauge 30 sts and 38 rounds = 10 cm / 4 inches of Stockinette stitch, in the round after blocking. 34 sts and 28 rounds = 10 cm / 4 inches of charted pattern, in the round after blocking. If you can't match the gauge both across the stitches and across the rounds, choose the needle size that gets you closer to the gauge across the stitches.
