Bookish Shawl

The Bookish Shawl features a simple textured pattern of garter and stockinette stitch, with a gorgeous lace border. The lace was inspired by the intricate metalwork you can find in library stacks (which often distracted me when I was supposed to be studying!). This shawl is a quick knit in worsted-weight yarn, but you can easily substitute DK or sport-weight. Just choose an appropriate needle size and repeat the lace rows until you are happy with the dimensions. With extra edge increases giving it a cozy, generous wingspan, this is a shawl to cuddle up with as you immerse yourself in a good book. **Instructions are fully written, with an optional chart for the lace.** For a scarf version of this design, see [In the Stacks](/patterns/library/in-the-stacks). **Finished Measurements** Wingspan: 62”/157.5 cm Depth: 22”/56 cm Instructions for adjusting the size are provided.
