I have used both knit and purl stitches in lace pattern so that it will have a unique three dimensional texture, like muscari flowers. Both samples are knitted with worsted weight wool yarn. You can also use a summer yarn like cotton or linen for a summer sweater, or lace weight mohair and fingering weight wool yarn for airy texture, or any other fiber of your choice.
