It's how commune living works. Money is tight and time has the higher value, so any amount of help is always appreciated and returned. A friend gave us some great items for our wee baba Aran when we were in Holland, and in return I gifted Hats for her two children. Her daughter was easy - I had a big bag of suitable Hats, however her son was more difficult. So I knitted him a beanie, this beanie. This is a top down ribbed beanie, with notes for adapting for different sizes and gauges. Ideal for adding stripes or a brim.
