Early Bloomer

Early Bloomer can be knit in any DK weight yarn, and the instructions include both a short and long sleeve option. The body length is slightly cropped (11 inches / 28 cm) but can easily be lengthened or shortened. Note that for every additional inch of length, you will need about 5% more MC yarn (relative to the amount for the short sleeved version given below). It is knit from the top down, in one piece, beginning with a provisional cast on. The provisional stitches are picked up at the end, then the neck is shaped with short rows and the collar is finished in ribbing. Other than the short rows for the neck shaping, it is worked entirely in the round. Yoke shaping is done with increases during the colour-work, in addition to raglan increases following the colour-work. Please ensure your gauge is consistent over both plain st st and colour-work. If your colour-work tension differs from your plain st st tension, you may wish to use a different needle size for the colour-work. The fit of this sweater is intended to be approximately 2-4 inches larger than your actual chest measurement, but of course you should choose a fit that suits your preference.
