Scrappy Bobble Hat

**The Scrappy Bobble Hat is a satisfying project for recycling leftover yarn scraps or combining stashed yarns into your own colour palette.** It’s chunky corrugated ribbing and textured mock cable design is gender neutral and ultra stretchy to fit most heads. It can be customised by leaving off the pompom and making shorter for a beanie style, or can be made into a slouchy version topped with a pompom or tassel (guidance for each version given in the pattern). The gauge and combined yarn weights are all quite flexible because the hat is very stretchy. You'll need at least 80 to 100g of yarns or yarn scraps that, when held together, are roughly equivalent to a chunky yarn, for example: • 3 x 4ply (+ 1 x lace weight if desired). • 1 x 4ply + 1 x DK (or 2 x 4ply + 1 x DK). • 2 x DK (+ 1 x lace weight if desired). • Very short scraps can be used in a pompom or tassel. • In the US, ‘fingering weight’ is equivalent to 4ply. The pattern includes some suggestions about how you might combine your yarns. You can change some or all of the strands as you knit to create subtle stripes or gradients, which will allow for shorter scraps to be incorporated. Very short scraps can be used in a pompom or tassel. You'll also need a set of 5.5mm double pointed needles (or equivalent circular if you prefer the magic loop method). No cable needle needed.
