Kaleidoscope Poncho

Infinitely wearable, this top down, two pointed poncho is knit in the round. Pools of color are formed using long color changing or gradient color yarns. Short rows create a dynamic pattern that dances across the fabric giving a sense of movement. As you knit lively shapes emerge that mirror and complement each other just like a Kaleidoscope. ***Pattern includes instructions for BOTH Worsted weight or Fingering weight yarn.*** Two yarns are used. First, a Main Color which is a self-striping or color gradient with long color runs. Variegated yarns with short color changes will not produce the desired effect. Many yarns will work for Main Color in Worsted Weight knit with Sz 8 needles - approximately 600-700 yds: Noro – Silk Garden or Kureyon Lang Yarns – Mille Colori Schoppel-Wolle – Reggae Ombré Knit Picks Chroma Worsted Lion Brand Ferris Wheel Options for Fingering or Sport Weight yarns knit with Sz 6 needles - approximately 800 yds: Noro- Silk Garden Sock Feederbrook Farm Entropy DK Schoppel - Zauberball Knitting Fever - Painted Lace Lang Yarns – Mille Colori Baby Lang Yarns - Jawoll Magic Secondly, a Contrasting Color; a solid or semi-solid in similar weight that compliments or contrasts with the Main Color. Depending on weight approximately 250-300 yds used. Pattern is written with explicit row by row instructions, including stitch counts. Stitch count is important for designed effect. Lots of helpful tips and hints included to encourage success. Ability to "read" your knitting is helpful.
