A Thousand Kisses

“*Give me a thousand kisses.*” --Jamie Fraser, from the Latin poem Catullus 5 At the beginning of Season 4 of the Outlander series, based on book four, *Drums of Autumn*, Claire is robbed of her wedding band. It was made from an old key to Jamie Fraser’s ancestral home, Lallybroch in Scotland. Later in the season, in a very romantic scene, Jamie gives her a new wedding band, made from a silver candlestick that had belonged to his mother Ellen MacKenzie Fraser. Inside he had it inscribed with a phrase from a poem written in Latin, “Da mi basia mille”, meaning “Give me a Thousand Kisses”. So, for Valentine’s Day 2019 I give you a lovely, romantic one-skein scarf, “A Thousand Kisses”. This light and airy scarf has a boomerang shape, with an easy, and very pretty stitch pattern. With the simple stitch pattern, you can work on this while visiting with friends, or while watching TV or a movie. And, if you haven’t seen the Outlander series (on Starz) I encourage you to start at the beginning, and to read the book series. Jamie and Claire’s love affair is epic and spans two time lines and 200 years. I used one skein of the absolutely gorgeous Malabrigo Mechita in the color “Cereza”. You will need one skein of fingering or sock weight yarn that is at least 420 yards.
