A kit for this pattern is available in the [KDD shop.][1] **St Catherines** *A super comfortable, shrug-style garter stitch cardigan, with dolman sleeves and short-row shaping. A simple but interesting multi-directional knit* **Yarn** Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed (70% Wool; 30% Mohair; 100m / 109yds per 25g ball) in shade Tarbet. 8 (10, 12, 14, 16) balls or Birkin / Bruce 4 (5, 6, 7, 8) balls of each shade. **Needles and notions** Gauge-size circular needles (of your preferred length) for knitting body, fronts and back. Spare gauge size needles and / or needle cords for setting sts aside. Above gauge-size needle (any length) for working i-cord bind off. Gauge-size needle(s) of your preferred type for working small circumferences. Waste yarn for holding sts. Stitch markers. Tapestry needle. **Sizing** 89 (99, 109, 119, 129) cm / 35 (39, 43, 47, 51)" Dimensions in the pattern sizing table show the actual finished dimensions of the garment with open fronts. Pick the size immediately above your actual bust measurement with enough ease to allow fronts to comfortably overlap. Shown worn in the first size with 10cm / 4in positive ease (blue sample) and in the second size with 18cm / 7in positive ease (striped sample). **Gauge** 24 sts and 40 rows to 4 ins (ie, 6 sts and 5 garter st bumps to 1 in). Gauge was achieved on 3.75mm needle **Pattern notes** The body of this shrug-style cardigan is worked back and forth in one piece to the underarms, increasing stitches rapidly to form the dolman-shape of the shoulders and upper sleeves. Fronts and back are then worked separately, and the shoulders joined with a 3 needle bind-off. Sleeves are picked up from the armscyes, worked downwards in the round, and finished off with i-cord. A collar is shaped around the neck with short rows, and short rows are also used to add length and a curved shape to the lower back and fronts. Stitches are finally picked up - and a garter-stitch edging worked - all around the front openings, finishing neatly with an i-cord bind off.
