Tony the Triceratops is a great size for little cuddles. My kids don’t leave the house without a Tony in hand! The best part – Tony looks great in any colour.

3.00mm hook/D-3 (US)/ 10 (UK)
8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted
70g yarn in GREEN
Less than 50g yarn in CREAM
9mm safety eyes
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Polyester toy stuffing
Stitch marker (optional)
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
inc = single crochet increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
MR = magic ring
BLO = back loop only
sl st = slip stitch
(..) = repeat the space in brackets the given number of times
[..] = total number of stitches
BLO = back loops only
Notes:
A yarn with no stretch is best for amigurumi, I ordinarily use cotton.
When changing colour, pull through new colour on the last stitch of the row prior.
Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round (unless it says otherwise)
For this pattern, the following yarns were used:
o CREAM = Scheepjes Stonewashed in col. 801 Moon Stone
o GREEN = Scheepjes Stonewashed in col. 819 New Jade
I crochet loosely and use a 3.00mm hook with 8ply yarn but everyone differs. Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight to keep stuffing from showing and for any attachments (ie safety eyes) to stay in place.
The yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of the finished item. My Tony is approximately 24cm tall (9 ½ inches).
I have used plastic safety eyes but you may also embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
