Intended Ease at Bust: + 5 – 10" **YARN** Approximately 1918 (2128, 2351, 2577, 2767, 2987) yards worsted weight yarn Sample shown in Berroco Ultra Alpaca (50% superfine alpaca, 50% Peruvian wool; 215 yd/100 g) Shown in #6214 steel cut oats (medium brown) and #6287 denim mix (medium blue heather) **NEEDLES** **Main Fabric Needle**: One pair of straight needles or a 32" circular needle* in size needed to obtain gauge Suggested size: US 7/4.5 mm **Ribbing Needle:** One pair of straight needles or a 32" circular needle* one size smaller than gauge needle Suggested size: US 6/4.0 mm **Pocket Lining Needle:** One pair of straight needles or a 24" circular needle * one size smaller than Ribbing Needle Suggested size: US 5/3.75 mm **Pocket Edging Needle**: One pair of straight needles or a 24" circular needle Suggested size: US 4/3.5 mm *Knitter’s preferred style and length of needle for flat knitting may be used **GAUGE** 25 stitches and 27 rows = 4" in cable patterns with Main Fabric Needle, relaxed after blocking 20 stitches and 27 rows = 4" in seed stitch with Main Fabric Needle, relaxed after blocking Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. **NOTIONS AND TOOLS** Markers (m) removable markers cable needle stitch holders or spare circular needle size G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook waste yarn for provisional CO tapestry needle eight 1/2" buttons plain backing buttons (if desired, see Buttonband Finishing) **NOTES and CONSTRUCTION OVERVIEW** • This cardigan is worked back and forth from the bottom up in pieces and seamed. • A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches • The front edging is a fold-over stockinette band with a column of slip stitches running up the center. • Band is worked simultaneously with the front body pieces until shoulder stitches are bound off, after which the collar stitches continue to be worked to half the neck width. After assembly, band is folded to the WS and stitched in place. Collar extension is joined using Kitchener Stitch and sewn to back neck. • Two sets of buttonholes are worked, one on the outer band and one on the facing. After assembly button holes are tacked together. • A garter stitch selvedge is used throughout. • Cable Charts include two set-up rows. Work the two set-up rows one time only and thereafter work cable repeat as indicated with brackets. • Due to the difference in gauge after blocking, row counts are given in addition to lengths. **Errata FOR INTERWEAVE VERSION ONLY:** After shape neck the row counts should be 7 (7, 7, 7, 9, 13) for the left front and 8 (8, 8, 8, 10, 14) for the right front. 11.17.21 Pattern will be updated shortly.
