Ranger Cowl

OK, admittedly, it is bordering on costume. It's large, hooded, textural, asymmetrical and dramatic. Could it be worn in the woods by a mythical hunter in some sort of fantastical history? Sure Could it be worn by a teen heroine in a dystopian future, crouching in back alleys while running from / pursuing her enemies? Yeah I guess. But if the everyday cosplay angle isn't selling it for you, let me throw some Autumnal language at you and we'll see what sticks: Foliage, frosty, Warm Apple Cider, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Apple Picking, pumpkin pie, taking a stroll in the American south while pretending it's colder outside, falling leaves, crisp air, football games, hiking. Any of that doing it for you? Look i figure if you didn't TL;DR by now you're probably already committed, may as well buy it. Yarn requirements: I used about 5 and a half skeins of Madelinetosh Chunky in the color "Mare" for my sample. Now, the internet will tell you that it's a bulky weight, but it's just not. It's an Aran weight at most, meaning you can comfortably knit with it on a US9 or 10 so if you're looking for a substitute you'll want something that falls into that Heavy worsted or Aran range. I would recommend sticking with a wool with a high twist to get a good definition on the cables and ribbing. Also if you want something a bit smaller, I didn't make different sizes, but you can easily size it down a bit by switching to a lighter weight yarn, a DK on a US6 will get you a lighter weight cowl that's more petite.
