Rumi's Hair

This Rumi hat is based on a classic beanie, but with a dragon braid attached over the head and continued on to the back. It is worked bottom-up in the round and the braid attached afterwards. The knitting portion is very beginner-friendly, but creating and attaching the braid can be time-consuming and fiddly. Be patient and take your time! Color photos are included as a part of the pattern. For increased visibility in the photos, strands being worked on are highlighted in white when necessary. The yarn used in the photos is Impeccable by Loops & Threads in the color “Grape Punch”, held double. You can also use bulky (5) or super bulky yarn (6) and reduce the number of hair strands needed for the braid by about half. Adjust your needle size to obtain the correct gauge.
