*Use the code **boxes** to get 20% off the pattern purchase price until 11.59pm Sunday 13 September 2026 (NZST).* Oversized fit, drop shoulder, with a relaxed neckline, smiling cat on the front and cheeky tail on the back. The sweater is worked from the bottom up in the round, before splitting at the underarm to work the back and front of the yoke separately. You can use my charts, or the included design your own cat charts for extra fun. You will then rejoin at the shoulder with three needle bind off. The stitches for the sleeves and neckline are picked up and worked in the round. The pattern comes with short sleeve (tee) and long sleeve (sweater) options. **Sizes** Pattern is designed for 13 sizes to fit ages 3 months to 10 years. Finished sweater body circumference: 53.5, 56.5, 59, 61.5 (64, 66.5, 69) (71.5, 74, 76.5) (79, 81.5, 86.5) cm / 21, 22.25, 23.25, 24.25 (25.25, 26.25, 27.25) (28.25, 29.25, 30) (31, 32, 34) inches. Check out the pattern photos for more information on the sizes. This sweater is designed for an oversized fit, with 5 to 15 cm (2 to 6 inches) positive ease around the chest. Need some help working out your perfect size or sweater length? The pattern includes tips for sizing, including how to pick what size to make and how to adjust the body length. **Yarn** I’m using my yarn stash to design fun patterns, so I’ve used an assortment of yarns in this design. A single strand of fingering weight (4ply) yarn is used for this sweater. Check out the pattern photos for more information on how much yarn is needed for each size. **Gauge** 24 sts x 36 rows per 10 cm / 4 inches on a 3.5mm (US4) needle **Needles** 3.5mm (US4) circular needle (80cm / 32 inches long) for body and sleeves 3.25 mm (US3) circular needle (80cm / 32 inches long) for neckline, cuffs and hem **Notions** BOR marker, 2x removable markers, 2x markers for charts (optional) **Colourwork** Are you looking to try out different colourwork techniques? This pattern provides a great introduction to intarsia and you will end up with a cute sweater at the end that your kid will love. On the sample I worked the eyes and cheek blushes in stranded colourwork, but you can use intarsia if you prefer. If you find it easier, the smile could be worked in duplicate stitch. Working colourwork can sometimes be a little frustrating. Take your time and have fun with it. If you make a minor mistake, you can probably get away with it, no one will notice. Remember, nature is not perfect, little mistakes will give your cat its own unique charm.
