Artemisia Headband

This headband was designed as a sister project to the [Artemisia Scarf][1]. The delicate beauty of wormwood’s feathery leaves comes to life in this classy, modern piece. The design layers a lacy outer pattern over a stockinette background, creating a headband that balances warmth and style. It is also fully reversible and can be worn with either the lace or the plain side out. The main stitch pattern is both charted and written out. **Size** - Finished band circumference, adjustable: 49 (52) (55) (59)cm (19¼ (20½) (21¾) (23¼)in) - Width: 7.5cm (3in) - Suggested negative ease: 2.5–5cm (1–2in) **Yarn** - DK weight, 100 (110, 120, 130)m (110 (120) (130) (140)yds) - Sample yarn: Cardiff Cashmere Classic (100% cashmere), DK, 25g (¾oz), 112m (122yds), in Cammeo - The pattern is designed to let variegated, self-striping, or self-patterning yarns shine. **Needles** - 5.5mm (US 9) DPNs, circular needles, or any needles needed to work small circumferences in the round **Gauge** - 19 sts and 25 rows measure 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) over stockinette (stocking) stitch - Swatch to determine the needle size that achieves the correct gauge **Construction** - The headband is worked as a tube in the round starting from the back of the head. - The band is worked in a lace pattern with a four-row repeat on one side and in plain stockinette (stocking) stitch on the other. - Once the front is reached, the band is separated into two strips, which are then worked independently in the round.
