Shoreditch Top

The Shoreditch Top is designed to be a versatile layering piece that can be dressed up or down. It can be worn casually over a bikini at festivals in the summer or as a going out top over a dress in the winter. It has a boat neckline and is worked seamlessly from the top down in the round. It is constructed using the contiguous set-in sleeve method: the yoke begins with shoulder increases to create the shoulder straps, followed by increases on the sleeves to shape the sleeve caps, and finishes with compound raglan increases to create the underarm curve. The pattern includes customizable options for the sleeves and body length: **Version A** features a cropped body with short sleeves, while **Version B** features a slightly longer body with long, subtle bell sleeves. The pattern includes a **video tutorial** for beginner knitters or those new to a contiguous set-in sleeve construction. **Size guide** The Shoreditch Top is designed to have proportional positive ease to ensure a comfortable, relaxed fit across all sizes. It is designed to be approx. 7-12 cm [2¾-4¾ inches] larger than your bust measurement for sizes XS-M, gradually scaling up to 11-20 cm [4½-8 inches] of positive ease for sizes XL-5XL. The sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) [XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL] are designed to fit a bust circumference of 76-81 (81-86, 91-96, 101-106, 112-117) [122-127, 132-137, 142-147, 152-157] cm / 30-32 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46) [48-50, 52-54, 56-58, 60-62] inches. Measure yourself before beginning your project to determine which size will fit you best. E.g - if you measure 89 cm [35 inches] around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body), you should knit a size S. A size S has a finished bust circumference of 96 cm [37¾ inches], which in the given example would give you 7 cm [2¾ inches] of positive ease. If using the recommended Drops Paris (50 g = 75 m [82 yds]), this equates to 150 (200, 200, 200, 250) [300, 350, 350, 400] g, or 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) [6, 7, 7, 8] balls. **Version B** (Longer body and long sleeves): 280 (330, 370, 420, 480) [550, 610, 680, 760] m / 306 (360, 404, 459, 524) [601, 667, 743, 831] yds of an Aran-weight yarn. If using the recommended Drops Paris (50 g = 75 m [82 yds]), this equates to 200 (250, 250, 300, 350) [400, 450, 500, 550] g, or 4 (5, 5, 6, 7) [8, 9, 10, 11] balls. The Black Version A Shoredtich Top sample is knitted in Drops Paris in the colour Black 15. Silver Sequin is knit with Lana Grossa Cosmo (under 1 ball for size small). Blue t-shirt is knit with Yanrsmiths Cotton Aran. Sizes 3XL, 4XL and 5XL are untested - please let me know if you wish to test it.
