Hot and Cold Eye Mask

This weighted, Hot and Cold Eye Mask is a great self care tool that can help with sleep, headaches, and relaxation all through the power of fiber arts! It can be frozen, microwaved or used at room temperature as a weighted eye mask. This pattern was designed for the 2026 Chicago Yarn Crawl and will be free until August 3rd, 2026! It's made by crocheting two flat eye mask shapes, single crocheting them together, and sewing on straps while leaving an opening to insert and remove a cotton lined rice pouch. The pattern will walk you through the process of sewing the cotton pouch as well as adding the rice, though you can customize this process to suite your needs. Techniques Used: - Chain - Single Crochet - Slip Stitch - Increases and decreases - Attaching two separate panels by single crocheting. - *optional* sewing (by hand or machine) a cotton rice bag to line the mask. Materials Needed: - 4mm (US G) crochet hook - tapestry needle to weave in ends/sew straps - 1-3 stitch markers - ¼ yard (or fat quarter) of 100% cotton fabric, needle and thread to sew optional liner. - ½ cup of plain white rice, flax seed or microwaveable filling of choice - *optional* Essential oils of choice
