> **8 year design anniversary celebration! 35% off L'Anse au Clair and all > of my self published patterns until > July 27** *L'Anse au Clair* *The opening pattern to Landed, Volume 2. L 'Anse au Clair, meaning clear water cove in French, is a gateway to Labrador. At the visitor center, a heritage patchwork quilt is on display, designed and sewn by women across Labrador . While my blanket design is different, I endeavored to capture the variety and connections between all the Labrador communities in a unique way.* *L'Anse au Clair has a modular construction. Each stranded colorwork piece is worked in the round with steeks and the pieces are joined together with 3-needle bind offs. There are a total of 8 figures and diagrams in the pattern to aid you in the construction and assembly. All big blankets look so epic and I hope that this one brings you a lot of inspiration and delight.* **Important :** L'Anse au Clair is pattern #1 of the "Landed, Volume 2: Labrador" e-book. As each of the 17 patterns in the e-book are published between now and through 2027, they will get added to the e-book. So if you buy the e-book now, you will get an update notification in your Ravelry library each time another pattern is added to it. **Size** 156cm X 156cm / 61.5" X 61.5" **Yarn** The Border Mill North Coast 4ply (100% Shetland wool; 360 meters / 393 yards per 100 grams) in 5 colors, C1-C5 listed below, with approximate meterage and yardage. If using the same sample yarn, the number of balls of each color is also given in brackets. C1 Strathy Point (charcoal; five 100g balls + one 25g ball): 1890 meters / 2065 yards C2 Corrieshalloch (sky blue; three 100g balls + one 25g ball): 1170 meters / 1280 yards C3 Sutherland Sky (light grayish blue; two 100g balls + one 25g ball): 780 meters / 855 yards C4 Rosa Canina (light pink; one 25g ball): 40 meters / 45 yards C5 Knockan Crag (navy; two 100g balls): 565 meters / 620 yards **Gauge** To find your needle size, you need to swatch the Stranded Colorwork. If you don't know whether your stitch gauge changes between single-color stockinette and stranded colorwork, then you should swatch for both. Stranded Colorwork: 29 sts / 29 rnds to 10cm / 4" using size C needles **Needles & Notions** The gauges were achieved with the following needle size. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking. Note that the pattern is written assuming that the knitter needs to use a smaller needle for single-color stockinette. If your gauge does not change between single-color stockinette and stranded knitting, then you don't need to change needle sizes. Size A: 2.5mm (US 1.5) 80cm or 100cm (32" or 40") long circular needles for the garter edging of the border Size B: 2.75mm (US 2) DPNs or long circular needles for the spokes, then circular needles of varying lengths for the single-color rounds embedded in the colorwork Size C: 3.25mm (US 3) circular needles of varying lengths for the stranded colorwork You will also need: either a crochet hook and yarn, darning needle and thin yarn/thread, or felting tool and board for reinforcing steeks; scissors for cutting steeks; spare interchangeable cables, spare needles or scrap yarn for holding stitches; removable markers; stitch markers. **Techniques** * Stranded colorwork is done almost entirely in the round. In order to set-up the formation of the center star, there is a tiny bit of flat stranded colorwork at the very start of the blanket. * Steeking * picking up stitches * decreasing stitches (k2tog and ssk) * increasing stitches (m1r and m1l) * 3-needle BO -------------------------------------------------------- Tech edited by Sue Hislop (on Ravelry as: [Sue-Cat](/people/Sue-Cat)
