Tomato Day Sock

Durham Farmers’ Market Tomato Day is an annual summer celebration bringing together local growers, artists, families, and visitors to celebrate the diversity of North Carolina tomatoes. And to add to the fun, I created two tomato knitting charts you can utilize by either following this base pattern or your sock pattern of choice. This is my first sock pattern and it was written based on vibes hence why it’s free. SIZES: 1,( 2, 3) To Fit: [foot circumference] 17-19 (20-23, 24-25.5) cm / 7 (8.5, 9.5) inches Recommended ease: Approx. 2.5cm / 1 inches of negative ease. *Leg/Foot length can be easily adjustable. NEEDLES PRIMARY NEEDLES: US0 - US 1; 80cm / 31+ inches for magic loop (for ribbing, heel, and toe), or DPNs, two circulars or 9” needles. COLORWORK: US 1 - US 2; 80cm / 31+ inches for magic loop or DPNs, two circulars or 9” needles. GAUGE 32sts x 30 rnds = 10cm / 4 inches for colorwork. *Heads up, I am a loose knitter and my gauge is far from perfect. However this base pattern adheres to the vast majority of vanilla sock recipes out there. So stick to the size you know works for you. MATERIALS Fingering weight or Sock yarn (75% SW Merino Wool / 25% Nylon) Also these are generous estimates. You should be fine using scraps. Cuff Color - Black - 25-50g Main Color - White - 75-100g Checkers - Blue -25g Stem - Green - 25g Tomato - Red - 25g Other materials required: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, and scissors.
